It was a great movie...and as a Hitchcock fan, I appreciated the amazing shots (like the one on the carousel of Bruno stomping on Guy's hands). But what really made the movie for me was Robert Walker's character, Bruno. He was a dangerously sweet villain and I found myself at times siding with him and not Guy. At the end of the movie I thought about the roller coaster Robert Walker had just taken me on and I craved more. I read his Filmography so that I may experience more of his work and then read that he had passed in 1951. So sad, and so young. He had so much promise...I am glad that he left behind a legacy in the movies he has made and in his two sons. -A new Robert Walker fan. Jun 14 2010 - 9:07 am Name: Mary Email:  URL:  The first time I saw "Stranger's on a Train," watching Robert Walker's masterful performance, I thought to myself, "who is this guy?" He is fantastic. I'm so glad Hitchcock saw something in him and cast him in that film, giving him a chance to show what he had in him. Recently I saw "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" on TCM for the first time and was again moved and, being a film fan, sought out other Robert Walker performances. I also researched him and learned more about his struggle for happiness and mental health. The details of his early death are truly tragic. I have yet to see all of his films, but intend to. I love him in "Bataan" and "The Clock" and, of course, "Strangers on a Train." Robert Walker had an amazing ability to inhabit whatever character he was playing. Few actors working today (or in his lifetime) have that ability. He stepped into a character and that character lived. He was, what they now call "authentic." And we who need art so desperately are grateful for him. Rest in Peace Robert Walker. I remember having a crush on him when I was very young. I loved his voice, his manner, his gentleness, and, of course, his great talent. I never really knew about his life until I recently saw the movie "The Clock" with Robert and Judy Garland and Robert Osborne on TCM mentioned how young he was when he passed away. I was barely a teenager when I fell in love with him, especially in \"Since You Went Away.\" His color foto on the cover of Photoplay (you don\'t have it on your site) hung on my wall. I devoured all the many articles about him and JJ, and their little boys. It broke my heart to see him and JJ playing young lovers in SYWA, knowing that she\'d left him for Selznick and a greater career opportunity as his wife. (You know, Selznick divorced the daughter of L. B. Mayer, most powerful man in Hollywood, to marry JJ.) Selznick was obsessed. Casting Robert Walker opposite his estranged wife in love scenes was like voyeurism. RW\'s role in that film was very touching - the young man who was such a disappointment to his grandfather. It is a beautiful tribute to a wonderful actor and father, and I am sure that Bob Walker himself would be honored to see it! I live 20 miles north of Ogden, Utah, and stopped by the cemetery to look for Bob\'s grave. Didn\'t find it, yet, but I will go back and look some more. I\'m glad that his birthday is a holiday this year! October 13 2003 - 11:54 am Name: Tom Farrell Email:  URL:  Based on his filmography, I can tell that I\'ve seen Mr. Walker in films before but never knew who he was. Just like his son, whom I remember clearly from his Star Trek episode, but not by name. This week, I had TCM on and was really impressed with Roberty Senior\'s performance (as well as of others in the film) in \"Her Highness and the Bellboy\". Whenever I get impressed this way, I end up doing volumes of web seaches, and have therefore also begun learning about Jennifer Jones and eveb viewing photographs of Saint Bernedette lying \"incorrupt\" in her glass coffin to this day in Nevers, France. However, imagine how shocked and saddened I was to learn that this lively, happy slapsticking (in this film anyway) boy, Bob Walker, had, after all his mental illness problems, been killed by a poor choice of medication, and in the hands of two physicians! As a person who, over 20 years ago, spent a lot of time in psych hospitals myself, that really hit home with me! I will be interested to continue to research this frankly quite avoidable death, and what these blundering doctors really did. It all just seems so implausible. To me, this deadly error 53 years ago is as if it were yesterday -- that is the kind of thing I would think might happen to me. Actually -- oh my god -- it almost did this year when, after having my gall bladder remved, I spent the night at my mother\'s in case of complications, which is good, because on my own, I would never have awakened. Another \"freak\" medication problem -- this time having to do with the pain killers being more potent than they wre supposed to be! Wow, now I get why reading about Mr. Walker\'s death hit me the way it did! I myself was barely breathing when I was found the next day! Anyway, sorry, I digress! And I don\'t intend to be comparing myself with this talented man! I am so glad to find this web site, and hope to learn much much more about this man, his work and his life. Thanks for putting it here. I know that Mr. Walker must appreciate this too!
